IBCLC stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. The highest accredited healthcare professionals specializing in lactation, and considered the "Gold Standard" for lactation care. Recertification standards must be met and recertification is every 5 years.

The Certified Breastfeeding Specialist accreditation is a stepping stone to the IBCLC accreditation. This credential is specific to Lactation Education Resources and needs continuing education to keep current and recertification is every 5 years.

This is a continuing education course specific to lactation professionals to enhance their skills on oral function as it pertains to bottle feeding, as well as understanding and overcoming bottle refusal.

A Loss and Bereavement Doula is a professional that walks with, supports and helps families who are experiencing the loss of their baby. This understanding is especially important in lactation care because breast engorgement and leaking will still happen with a later term loss and being able to navigate this as a lactation professional is imperative.

A Postpartum Doula is a trained professional who offers support to new parents during the postpartum period, or the first six weeks after giving birth. They can provide physical and emotional support, as well as information or guidance on topics like infant feeding, recovery from childbirth, infant soothing, coping skills, mother-baby bonding, and basic newborn care.
